Tell us a little bit about your photography - where are you based and what type of photography do you currently enjoy?

We are a husband and wife team based just outside of Edmonton, AB in Fort Saskatchewan, AB specializing in weddings and branding/corporate photography and videography.

In only a couple of words, how would you describe your style of photography?

Authentic, energetic, timeless, real

Tell us about one of your most memorable photoshoots or perhaps a favourite photo you have taken?

We've come to appreciate that the most cherished photos are usually the ones that capture the genuine essence of our clients. It's those images that manage to evoke the sound of their laughter with just a single glance.

As a photographer, nurturing your creativity while trying to balance self employment and life can be a little tricky sometimes. Where do you find the inspiration to continue creating and maintaining consistency?

We've discovered that taking intentional breaks from our work and outsourcing certain tasks has actually allowed us to be more productive and achieve greater success in both our personal and professional lives. By delegating certain responsibilities to others, we free up more time for ourselves, our kids and other interests. This has helped us to be more focused and action-oriented when we return to our work, and our creativity has flourished as a result.

Having grown as a photographer, is there any piece of advice that you could give to yourself when you first started down this path, or wish you had known sooner?

In the early stages of our business, we struggled big-time with comparing our value and work to other photographers and videographers in the industry. This paralysing mentality hindered our creative process. In retrospect, our time would have been better spent determining what our brand should embody and discovering our genuine passions, rather than worrying about other businesses.

Is there anything special you have been working on - mentoring, workshops, courses ect. We'd love to let other photographers know!

We are right in the middle of recording the EVERYTHING course for wedding photographers. When we started our business we were desperate for information to take our business to the next level. At the time, it seemed like every course or mentorship we invested into would leave us with blank puzzle pieces with missing information. We've designed this course to give US 5 years ago, everything we would've needed to avoid mistakes, progress faster and build a business we could be proud of.

What gear are you currently using and what would typically carry in your Kamrette camera bag?

I own both the Lyra and Mina bags in black. The Lyra is my everyday essentials pack that I take with me to almost every single session and wedding. Our videography gear requires a much larger capacity bag, but we are able to fit two Canon R6's, three lenses and filters, our client emergency kit, multiple batteries & memory cards, audio equipment and mics and a whole lot more! The Mina was a lighter addition as a more protective bag that I take with us out on a family adventures, hiking or travel! It fits everything I need and a few personal items as well.

Let's finish it off with a fan favourite - if you could only have one lens, which one would you choose?

For versatility sake, it would have to be my ride or die Canon 35mm RF 1.8
