Tell us a little bit about yourself - where are you based and what have you been enjoying lately?
I'm based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I love documenting couples and product photography.
In only a couple of words, how would you describe your style of photography?
I would say my style is vibrant, romantic and maybe a little moody at times. I love documenting things true to how they are, including the colours.
Tell us about one of your most memorable photoshoots or perhaps a favourite photo you have taken?
I would say my most memorable photoshoot was in Bali at sunrise, the sky was on fire or the wedding I documented in Germany, it was incredible seeing a wedding that was so different from weddings in Canada. They sure know how to throw an incredible party!
As a photographer, nurturing your creativity while trying to balance self employment and life can be a little tricky sometimes. Where do you find the inspiration to continue creating and maintaining consistency?
You do not need to say "yes" to everything, it's ok to say no, it's ok to not be the "photographer of choice". Be true to who you are and everything else falls into place. People and things that are meant for you will work out, the ones that aren't won't and you're most creative when you find the people who fit your vibes.
Having grown as a photographer, is there any piece of advice that you could give to yourself when you first started down this path, or wish you had known sooner?
No need to compare, you just need to work harder and focus on yourself!
What gear are you currently using and what would you typically carry in your Kamrette camera bag?
I have two Canon 5d Mark iii, Canon 50mm 1.2, Canon 85mm 1.2, Canon 35mm 1.4 and a Canon Marco 100mm 2.8.
Let's finish it off with a fan favourite - if you could only have one lens, which one would you choose?
Canon 85mm 1.2
