Tell us a little bit about your photography - where are you based and what type of photography do you currently enjoy?
I am based in Atlanta, Ga. USA and I love shooting women specifically lifestyle, brand photos and beautifully designed events!
In only a couple of words, how would you describe your style of photography?
Vibrant, Colourful, Joyful
Tell us about one of your most memorable photoshoots or perhaps a favourite photo you have taken?
I have so many! I really love that my clients trust my visions and trust me with creative control.
As a photographer, nurturing your creativity while trying to balance self employment and life can be a little tricky sometimes. Where do you find the inspiration to continue creating and maintaining consistency?
KNOWING that I am on a mission to serve others! My mission to create legacy photos for women of color and to coach photographers is bigger than how I feel or what I am afraid to do. I find my inspiration by reminding myself each day of the calling over my life to be a servant leader.
Having grown as a photographer, is there any piece of advice that you could give to yourself when you first started down this path, or wish you had known sooner?
Absolutely! To FOREVER be a student to the craft. In the 8 years I have been in business, so much has changed in the industry and I've learned that you will have to continue to learn and evolve. Also, you MUST find a way to enjoy the journey. There will be highs and lows, but the lows don't last too long as long as you stay focused and have intentional goals. Have a plan and be willing to adjust to creating new ones. Lastly, surround yourself with the right people who love and support you in the good and bad seasons.
Is there anything special you have been working on - mentoring, workshops, courses etc. We'd love to let other photographers know!
I'm hosting my fourth Porter Street Workshop in March, I'll also be speaking at the upcoming Evolve Workshops in California and Click Away Conference in Atlanta
What gear are you currently using and what would you typically carry in your Kamrette camera bag?
Canon 5D Mark iv, Canon R mirrorless with adapter, 35mm, 85mm, 24-70mm, a speed light, Holdfast camera straps, a hard drive, my laptop, wireless mouse, memory cards, mints, lip gloss, business cards, lens cleaner, and asprin.
Let's finish it off with a fan favourite - if you could only have one lens, which one would you choose?
